Mrs. Ginny Cannon – 5 day pre-k
FINGERPLAYS
One Precious Tooth(Used only if someone loses one)
I had a little loose tooth, when it wiggled it was sore,
But now it doesn’t hurt, ‘cause I don’t have it any more.
Birthday Chant
Apples, Peaches, Pears, Plums, tell me when your birthday comes.
Graces We Know
Thank You for the World So Sweet
Thank you for the world so sweet,
Thank you for the food we eat,
Thank you for the birds that sing,
Thank you God for everything.
God Our Father
(sung to: Frere Jacques)
God our father,
(echo) God our father,
Once again,
(echo) Once again,
We bow our heads and thank you,
(echo) We bow our heads and thank you.
A-a-men. (echo) A-a-men.
Theme: Birds, Bugs
We will learn how to identify some basic birds we might see in our own backyards. We will learn how to tell what a bird eats by looking at their beaks and feet, that not all birds eat seeds. We will learn about some of the insects in our backyards. We will observe them in their natural environment.
Any insects we catch for observation will be released back to where they came from.
Theme: Earth Week
We will learn about dumps and why we recycle. We will make our own class dump. It will stay in the dirt until next month when we will uncover it and discover what changes may have taken place. (We have been composting our snack fruits and vegetables and peels all year, so they are pretty certain they know what things will change and which won’t.)
Theme: Transportation
We will learn that any thing that helps you move from one place to another is transportation (ex. roller skates, wagons, bicycles, as well as cars, trucks, planes, etc.).
Theme: Olympics
We will be in training this week for the Olympics in our very own training center just like the Olympic athletes! We will find and feel our pulse when we are sitting and again when we have been running. We will listen to our hearts with a stethoscope and learn how our heart is a muscle that needs exercising just like all our other muscles. We will also learn why it is important to make good food choices.
Theme: Beach
We will swim in our classroom ocean with the sea animals and learn how to care for our oceans. We will learn about caring for ourselves as well (always use sunscreen, don’t swim without a parent, drink plenty of fluids).
Theme: Zoo
Zoos are full of animals we might never see in person otherwise. We will learn about the animals we will see when we go to the zoo.
Theme: Circus
We have only two days, but we will fit a lot of fun in to them! It culminates with our own circus and our visiting clown, Miss Vicki!
